Genuardi Family Foundation LOGO     Genuardi Family Foundation's Priorities are giving.

Education

The Foundation dedicates approximately 33% of its annual funding to educational organizations in the region (allocation will vary slightly year to year, as we respond to each year’s requests). The Foundation generally does not fund individual schools—public, private or parochial. Preference will be given to those organizations whose programs serve a disadvantaged or underserved population.

Sample of recipients for 2009:

Cathedral Kitchen of Camden, NJ has been in existence for over 32 years and has evolved from the simple act of offering soup and sandwiches to a few hungry people to a highly-organized emergency meal program that has served in excess of one million meals to the poor of Camden. Funding supports a Culinary Arts Training Program targeted at both the homeless and those individuals at risk of homelessness.

IHM Center for Literacy, located in Philadelphia, teaches English language skills to the multi-ethnic, non-English speaking adult immigrant population in North and Southwest Philadelphia, enabling them to integrate more comfortably and confidently into American life and work. Funding provides general operating support.

Chester County Futures, based in Exton, PA, provides academic enrichment, mentoring
and post-secondary scholarship assistance to
low-income, disadvantaged students who have the motivation, desire and ability to continue their educations beyond high school. Funding supports Passport to College, an academic program that provides long-term and intensive after-school curriculum for low-income, at-risk Chester County students throughout their middle and high school careers, with excellent outcomes of participants continuing onto
post-secondary education.
